Austin - Capitol of Texas
Known for its casual and playful nature, Austin is the playground of Texas. Situated at the center of the Lone Star State, it stands as the gateway to the Texas Hill Country and the Highland Lakes. As the state capital and home to the University of Texas, the city supports a politically charged and culturally rich environment. It’s hip, trendy, and high-tech. A large creative population-primarily musicians and artists enhance its eclectic nature.
Dining
From barbecue to Tex-Mex, to Thai and haute cuisine, there are more than enough dining choices in Austin to satisfy any appetite. With an average temperature of 70 degrees, patio dining is available year-round. In addition to great food, many Austin restaurants also serve up live music.
Entertainment
Sixth Street
The district is a unique blend of urban cultures, where jazz joints and rock ‘n’ roll hangouts mix with bars and dance clubs to create the backbone of the Live Music Capital of the World. The Victorian-era buildings now house some of Austin’s most renowned nightspots and cafes. Sixth Street is closed to traffic on weekends, which gives it a Bourbon Street environment. Doorways open to the sounds of unbridled electric guitar riffs and soft, melodious saxophone. Visit venues like the popular Hard Rock Café or B.D. Riley’s Pub, an authentic Irish pub featuring singer songwriters.
Warehouse District
The Warehouse district, just west of the central business district, is another Austin hot spot that caters to the live music scene. True to its name, the restaurants and clubs in this district have been renovated from former warehouses into trendy restaurants, top-notch concert halls, and distinctive bars.
