1:45 pm - 2:45 pm
Session Type: Workshop

An estimated 4.6 million adults are currently under some type of formal community supervision in the United States. While these numbers have been trending down slightly, there has been increased pressure on states to bring greater efficiencies to supervision processes, including rapid notification in the event a supervisee comes into contact with the criminal justice system or otherwise violates a condition of release. The challenges with today’s information-sharing environment lie not in a lack of available data, but in the ability to quickly access pertinent information across disparate local, state, and national systems. This workshop is designed to outline the current national landscape of criminal justice information sharing, elicit feedback from audience members on state and local information-sharing challenges, and provide an overview and demonstration of the FBI’s National Data Exchange and Rap Back Systems, designed to provide nationally-scaled, continuous evaluation and notification capabilities to the supervision community.
