Recognizing Opportunities for Change (ROC): A Detention Prevention Program

SESSION INFO

Monday, March 11, 2019
1:45 pm - 2:45 pm
Session Type: Workshop

ROC is a short-term detention prevention and stabilization program for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Participants in ROC are encouraged to question unhealthy behavior patterns and begin positive change. They engage in cognitive restructuring, anger management, victim empathy, teacher-led instruction, online academic programming, therapeutic interventions, mentoring, and community involvement projects. ROC staff strive to support youth by promoting a safe environment, fostering relationships, building meaningful connections to the community, and supporting and modeling emotional regulation techniques. This workshop will describe the ROC program, and the positive outcomes our youth have achieved while participating in it. We are committed to developing the best possible juvenile justice program, and we encourage others with the same goal to participate in this workshop.
