This session will focus on the need for juvenile community supervision agencies to reorient their structure and operations to focus less on surveillance and sanctions and more on their critical role of promoting positive youth behavior change. Presenters will highlight key elements of this strategy including the importance of recasting the role of supervision officers and training and supporting them accordingly; engaging youth and families in supervision decisions and interventions; and partnering effectively with service providers and other service systems.
