Taking Responsive Supervision to Scale: Implementing STICS in Sweden and Canada

SESSION INFO

Tuesday, July 31, 2018
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
Session Type: Workshop

Why is it so hard to succeed in implementing a new practice when the research tells us what to do? How can an evidence based model be supported by a strategic implementation process? Implementation is a complex undertaking. The expectations are high - things are going to change and fast! Managers are eager to get going, the timing is right. The need for a changed practice is obvious. Yet, things often go off track - why is that? This workshop shares experiences of both successes and challenges in implementing a responsive supervision model - the Strategic Training Initiative in Community Supervision (STICS). The presenters will use their own experiences implementing STICS in Canada and Sweden, as well as research findings to support their claims on how to be successful, and share some of their mistakes.
