SESSION INFO

Monday, August 19, 2019
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Session Type: Workshop

Have you ever wished that reporting regarding parole and probation could be more accurate—and that it would include better coverage of advances within our profession and recognition of our productive work? This session will discuss the importance for parole and probation authorities to conduct outreach to influence what is being reported by the media and better inform the public. The Parole Board of Canada will present its effort to become more open and accessible to several outlets (media, universities, police, crown attorneys, victim groups, etc.). Our goal has been to increase awareness and understanding of the Board’s public safety mandate and the research that supports the safe and gradual reintegration of offenders into the community. Come learn about our efforts and our successes.
