11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Session Type: Workshop

In today's climate, in which workplace violence and active shooter incidents that produce horrific casualties are no longer unthinkable, community correction agencies must consider how they would respond to such events wherever they perform their duties. Many law enforcement agencies train special response teams to deal with these incidents out in the community. What if the incident is occurring in your place of work? What can community correction officers do as first responders? Yuma County, Arizona, is dealing with the possibility of such incidents head on by development of Emergency Response Teams. In this workshop we will describe these teams, their structure, and their potential for making a difference when it truly matters.
