SESSION INFO

Tuesday, March 12, 2019
8:00 am - 9:30 am
Session Type: Workshop

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is an initiative that aims to reduce gun- and gang-related crime in communities. APPA, in partnership with the Community Corrections Institute, has been a leading training and technical assistance provider under PSN, with a focus on determining the role of probation and parole in supporting the initiative. By attending this workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn the circumstances during which 57 officers were killed in the line of duty, while on momentary leave from work, or while attending training, including deaths that are pending investigation or have been ruled suspicious. Participants will learn what data is available regarding hazardous incident reporting and statistics related to these fatalities, categories of incidents, and approaches that can be undertaken to enhance safety training.
