From Theory to Practice: Essential Elements of a High Functioning Pretrial Agency in Allegheny County Pennsylvania

The National Institute of Corrections and the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies recently released a collaborative publication, “A Framework for Pretrial Justice: Essential Elements of a Pretrial System and Agency,” that has been instrumental in helping those working in the criminal justice field to understand what elements and practices are essential in good pretrial systems. In this presentation, these theories will be discussed in the framework of practice in Allegheny County’s Pretrial Services Agency –an agency that was born from a Probation Department.
