Mindfulness to Total Wellness: A Transformational Shift

This workshop will examine the important role that employee health and wellness plays in the work environment, with emphasis on the need to promote practices and work environments that focus on employee self-care and reduce stress-related employee burnout. Failure to do so can adversely affect employee retention strategies, professional development, and, of course, staff well-being. Among the topics covered will be the nature of compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, the need for resilience, and how to avoid burnout.

Gregory Dillon, EdD
Director, Brazoria County CSCD


Dr. Gregory Dillon, LPC-S is the director for Brazoria County Community Supervision & Corrections Department located in the state of Texas. Prior to joining Brazoria County, he was a deputy director for the Dallas County CSCD. He earned a Doctor of Counseling from Texas Southern University in 2006 and is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor. He has worked in the field of community supervision for 21 years. He is also the current Region 12 (Texas) Representative to the APPA Board of Directors and is serving on Executive Committee. Dr. Dillon is also a board member for the Texas Probation Association.


Magdalena Morales-Aina, LPC-S
Director, El Paso County CSCD


Magdalena Morales-Aina, LPC-S, LPCC, is the director of the El Paso Community Supervision & Corrections Department and has over 20 years of professional experience as a criminal justice practitioner and licensed therapist, working with justice-involved adults with behavioral health conditions. Ms. Morales-Aina is a member and serves as faculty with NADCP, National Center DWI Courts, and most recently appointed to the APPA Board of Directors as the Chair of Health and Wellness Committee and serves on Texas Probation Association Board of Directors. She is also a Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) GAINS Center Trauma-Informed Responses Trainer.
