In the community supervision context, utilizing the technique of reflective dialogue allows staff to develop confidence and leadership when engaging in different kinds of group interactions. This will, in turn, result in improved communication, self-awareness, and empathy. Another aspect of reflective dialogue is that it can enables better communication between managers, staff, and community stakeholders. These techniques can be used to improve morale, to help lead, and to discuss divisive issues with diverse constituencies—enhancing the ability to hear multiple perspectives at once. The overall goal of this session is to help attendees become grounded in reflective dialogue techniques and to help them utilize reflective dialogue in successful offender supervision groups, in staff meetings, and with community stakeholders.
