Action Partnerships to Enhance Victim Services in Community Corrections
Contracting Agency: Office for Victims of Crime

Through this project, the Council of State Governments/American Probation and Parole Association (CSG/APPA) will partner with OVC and local, regional and national victim organizations and community corrections agencies through the networks of the APPA Victim Issues Committee to advance crime victims’ rights and services by increasing public awareness of the role community corrections plays in addressing victims’ rights and in providing more effective services to our nation’s crime victims. To achieve this, the project will develop a special issue of Perspectives (the quarterly journal of APPA) devoted entirely to victim issues in community corrections. This project also will promote awareness of victim issues and rights by conducting a public hearing on crime victim issues at the APPA Annual Training Institute in Washington, DC in August 2010 and by developing a policy recommendation report highlighting issues and suggestions for serving crime victims more effectively in community corrections. Additional project activities will include delivering workshop presentations at the APPA Winter and Annual Training Institutes and responding to requests for information.
