Contracting Agency: Bureau of Justice Assistance

The Council of State Governments/American Probation and Parole Association (CSG/APPA) will develop a curriculum and provide training and technical assistance to enhance probation and parole agencies' involvement in the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) anti-gang initiative. PSN is a major federal, state, and local initiative to combat gang and gun-related crimes and violence in communities across America CSG/APPA will continue an initiative to effectively include probation and parole agencies in the effort to combat gang and gun crime through their involvement in the PSN task forces. They will help identify the most important issues facing probation and parole officers as they experience a shift in the expectations of their roles as criminal justice agents to a more proactive, focused approach to community supervision. CSG/APPA will encourage and enhance probation and parole agencies' involvement in a multi-agency strategy to reduce gang and gun violence.
