Advancing Community Corrections Supervision Practices The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) is pleased to announce that it has recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to conduct a project to accomplish two goals:
The 12-month project will provide information about the realities of managing sex offenders in rural environments and, optimally, provide information to further the development of differential supervision strategies that better accommodate the realities faced by small and/or rural community corrections agencies. The project will also update information on emerging and improved electronic supervision technologies that may be applied to the community supervision of sex offenders and other high-risk offenders to offset the costs and crowded conditions of incarceration and to provide more stringent control of offenders in the community.
