The Office for Victims of Crime awarded a grant to the American Probation and Parole Association to utilize distance learning technologies to deliver a series of four 90-minute audio teleconferences/webcasts designed to provide community corrections professionals with the knowledge and skills they need in order to appropriately intervene in cases of elder abuse. These programs were adapted from the classroom training, “Identifying and Responding to Elder Abuse: The Vital Role of Community Corrections Professionals.” ( Learn more about the overall goals and objectives of the curriculum ) The four modules of this curriculum were delivered via live audio teleconferences/webcasts between June and September, 2007. Each broadcast was recorded as it was presented and these recordings, along with handout materials for each program, may now be viewed online or ordered on CD at no charge. Each program offers an opportunity for participants to earn 1.5 contact hours of continuing education credit upon successful completion of the online test that is provided with each module.
