Stalking: Living in the Shadow of Fear

Stalking presents significant challenges to community corrections practitioners as they attempt to devise and implement effective interventions that focus on victim safety and offender accountability. This workshop will be a presentation of basic stalking issues including: current stalking laws, charted statistics, typologies of stalkers, and the various types of stalking situations. The presentation will include basic strategies and techniques for response by community corrections officers to maximize victim safety, better manage stalking cases, and increase offender accountability. The workshop will also provide recommendations for safety and response if community corrections officers become the targets of stalkers as a result of their jobs.
