Welcome!
It is with
great pleasure that the American Probation and Parole Association is
offering an online curriculum on Basic Safety Training for
Probation and Parole Officers. This
workshop is provided through
funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs,
U.S. Department of Justice. The workshop is recommended for staff who
provide surveillance and/or supervision to adults or juveniles
on probation, parole, aftercare, or other community supervision
options. Throughout the workshop we have used the word
"officer" for staff and "offender" for the
adults or juveniles under supervision.
To fully participate in this workshop you must have:

restrictions within your network. If
so, contact your supervisor or network administrator. At the beginning of the course
you will be presented a list of nine modules and will have the
opportunity to proceed sequentially or in any order you choose.
Within each module the navigational arrows will be at the bottom
right. After completing any given module you may continue with
the next module or hit the "home" button to return to
the list of nine. To exit the workshop altogether, just close
the window. You may return to the workshop at your convenience,
using the information provided in the confirmation email you received.
It
should take approximately 60-75 minutes to complete all the
modules, and it is suggested you select a time and place where
you can focus your attention on the presentation without
interruption. You can print information you are viewing on the
screen by pressing Ctrl + P. Also for full-screen
viewing, you may maximize the browser to fill your screen (this
may slow down older computer systems).
