Focus Group

Supervising Intimate Partner Abusers on Probation and Parole

The American Probation & Parole Association (APPA) is partnering with the Safe Return Initiative (SRI) to develop advanced training materials and opportunities for community corrections professionals supervising domestic violence offenders. As part of this effort, APPA is hosting a series of focus group sessions to discuss the challenges of supervising intimate partner abusers, as well as recommended supervision practices, with community corrections professionals.

This focus group session will address the similarities and differences in supervising intimate partner abusers on probation and those on parole or supervised release. Through this focus group discussion, APPA and SRI hope to identify some of the key challenges and recommended strategies related to supervising domestic violence offenders under both probation and parole supervision in an effort to enhance training opportunities for community corrections professionals.

This project is supported by the Office on Violence Against Women, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
