JUSTICE INFORMATION SHARING SUPPORTED BY APPA The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) determined sharing information between federal, state and local justice system agencies (for example, law enforcement, courts, prosecution, defense, corrections, probation, parole, community corrections and victim assistance agencies) is essential to public safety and crime prevention. APPAs Board of Directors recognizing the all too often limited ability of the justice system to share information recently passed a resolution which endorses and supports cooperative and collaborative planning and implementation of integrated justice information systems at the federal, state and local levels. APPAs Board of Directors also requests that the United States Congress, the federal judiciary, the President and the United States Department of Justice take steps to promote the development of such systems by agencies involved with justice at the federal, state and local levels.
