Keys to a Better Tomorrow
It is a great time to be part of the community corrections profession. And, there is no better time to pause and reflect than over the week of July 15-21, 2007. The Probation, Parole, and Community Supervision Week represents a time where we can show our appreciation for the hard and thoughtful work by so many professionals who strive to make society safer, restore hope in individuals’ lives, and tend to victim needs. The growing body of knowledge is providing us with the tools and guidance to be effective in reaching these goals. Community corrections’ professionals are applying these “keys” which, when turned properly and with the right handling, are opening doors in other people’s lives. We possess the capacity to make our neighborhoods safer and lives more enriched. It is a good time to be in this profession and a good time to recognize the work of the community corrections workforce.
Thanks to all who have strived for a better tomorrow and who are constantly seeking more effective keys to bring about positive change.
Sincerely,
Mark Carey, President
American Probation and Parole Association
