Articles submitted for publication are screened by an editorial committee and, on occasion, selected reviewers, to determine acceptability based on relevance to the field of criminal justice, clarity of presentation or research methodology. Perspectives does not reflect unsupported personal opinions. Submissions are encouraged following these procedures:

Articles should be submitted in Microsoft Word format on an IBM-compatible computer disk or sent by e-mail to Karen Blackwell Mucci, Perspectives Production Coordinator, in accordance with the following deadlines:

Issue Deadline
Summer 2007 February 20, 2007
Fall 2007 May 20, 2007
Winter 2008 August 21, 2007
Spring 2008 November 11, 2007
Summer 2008 February 20, 2008

Unless previously discussed with the editors, submissions should not exceed 10 typed pages, numbered consecutively and double-spaced. All charts, graphs, tables and photographs must be of reproduction quality or included on the computer disk. Optional titles may be submitted and selected after review with the editors.

All submissions must be in English. Endnotes should be used only for clarification or substantive comments, and should appear at the end of the text. References to source documents should appear in the body of the text with the author's surname and the year of publication in parentheses, e.g., (Jackson, 1985). Multiple references to sources by the same author should be labeled alphabetically with each year, e.g., (Jackson, 1985a). If the same source is cited more than once, indicate the various pages of the source with each reference, e.g., (Jackson, 1985: 162-165). Alphabetize each reference at the end of the text using the following format:

Anderson, Paul J. "Salary Survey of Juvenile Probation Officers." Criminal Justice Center, University of Michigan (1982).

Jackson, D.J. "Electronic Monitoring Devices." Probation Quarterly (Spring, 1985): 86-101.

While the editors of Perspectives reserve the right to suggest modifications to any contribution, all authors will be responsible for and given credit for final versions of articles selected for publication. Submissions will not be returned to contributors.
