This session introduces a practical, field-informed framework that shifts the focus from failure-based metrics to measurable indicators of success. Drawing on lived experience, policy work, and coalition-building efforts, participants will explore how redefining success can improve outcomes, strengthen public safety, and transform supervision practices. Attendees will learn how to integrate success-based metrics into case planning, officer decision-making, and agency performance evaluation. Through guided activities, participants will apply the framework to real-world scenarios and leave with actionable strategies they can implement within their own agencies.

Tanaine Jenkins

Tanaine Jenkins is an award-winning recidivism strategist, national speaker, and systems change advocate dedicated to reducing recidivism and eliminating the “Second Sentence”—the barriers individuals face long after completing their formal punishment. After spending 10 years navigating the criminal justice system, she transformed her lived experience into a platform for impact, now working with organizations, policymakers, and communities to drive meaningful reform. Tanaine serves as the Florida State Campaign Organizer for REFORM Alliance and Director of the Florida Safety Coalition, where she leads cross-sector efforts to advance supervision reform and improve public safety outcomes. She has delivered keynote presentations and trainings across the country and is known for bridging the gap between policy and practice through practical, solution-driven strategies. Her work focuses on redefining success in community supervision, shifting systems away from failure-based metrics toward approaches that promote long-term stability, accountability, and opportunity.
