This workshop will focus on providing information about the role(s) of a communications administrator/PIO; the who, what, why and how of creating an effective communications plan. Attendees will be provided the opportunity to assess their agencies communications plan as well as start the process of creating a plan for moving forward.

Jeff Hanson
National Program Advisor, National Institute of Corrections
Jeff Hanson worked for the Oregon Department of Corrections for 35 years prior to retiring and joining NIC in 2023. Jeff has experience as a parole and probation officer, institution counselor, security threat group manager, and Evidenced Based Practice(s) trainer in: Motivational Interviewing, risk assessment(s), cognitive curriculums, case planning/management, core correctional practices and much more. Since joining NIC Jeff has led the Communications program, Coaching model, leadership development and a variety of other initiatives to continue moving corrections forward.
