Beyond the Script: Coaching That Tracks

In this workshop, we will discuss considering things such as roles within an organization and learning styles to individualize and tailor coaching to target specific persons and needs. You will also learn new ways to apply coaching via telework, observe different coaching practices, and practice creating a coaching exercise or tool with techniques that you can then apply within your agency. The goal is to learn the coaching do’s and don’ts to increase job productivity, staff retention, and staff development.

SESSION PRESENTERS
Shanyea Nevings
Supervisor - Electronic Monitoring, Marion County Community Corrections
Shanyea Nevings is an APPA Leadership Institute graduate who has worked for Marion County Community Corrections in Indianapolis, IN for over 7 years. She has held the title of Case Manager, Team Leader, Residential Case Management Supervisor, and currently serves as an Electronic Monitoring Case Management Supervisor. She graduated from Indiana University-Indianapolis, formerly known as Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. While at IU-Indianapolis, she completed a 240-hour internship with Homeland Security and a volunteer mentorship program assisting youth with re-entry after incarceration. Shanyea has supervised various caseloads during her tenure and has been involved in various initiatives within her agency, including Employee Engagement Committee Chair, being a Diversity Series training facilitator, and implementation of staff mediation for wellness sessions.
