In this session we will explore shaping individual community supervision plans through Community Psychology Theories and the foundational theory of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Attendees will learn how to develop a supervision plan by addressing the needs of the justice involved individual within the context of their environment and community. The goal is to promote a social justice model by focusing on how individuals can shape and be shaped by the environment by addressing basic needs and building upon each individual accomplishment.

Susan Harrod has worked with justice involved individuals in many capacities throughout her 30-year career. Her experience includes providing direct service inside of a boot-camp prison; building programs for the State of Illinois to address the issue of impaired driving; serving as a Senior Advisor to the Illinois Secretary of State on chronic impaired driving; advising community supervision agencies on including new, more productive technology to support supervision programs, and providing solutions to agencies to address the needs of the individual in community supervision.
