SESSION PRESENTERS

Rachel B Strickland
Parole & Probation Officer, Deschutes County Community Justice

I started my career in Law Enforcement as a teenager volunteering with Ceres Police Department and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department in California in 2003. I then graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Stanislaus State University. I was immediately hired at the age of 21 by Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department where I worked in the courtroom as a Bailiff and on the streets as a patrol officer. I investigated homicides, DUI’s, domestic violence, sexual crimes, child abuse, drugs, theft, robberies, home invasions and many other types of crimes. I served in the Honor Guard as well as a Field Training Officer. After almost 8 years as a Deputy Sheriff, I decided that I wanted to leave the bay area to be closer to family who resided in Oregon. I have currently been working as a Probation and Parole Officer since 2015. I’m currently a mom of two toddlers and that is my most rewarding job as of yet. When I first started supervising sexual offenders, I quickly came to the realization that they were smarter than I was in the technology area. I knew it was my obligation at that point to change that. I went to the National Computer Forensics Institute in Alabama and obtained certificates in Digital Evidence Investigations and Social Network Investigations. I attended Field Search Software Training from Corrections Technology Center of Excellence. I utilize and operate the Data Pilot for cell phone dumps in our office. I am an Instructor at Department of Public Safety Standard and Training Parole and Probation Academy in Salem Oregon and I am on the Board of the Sex Offender Supervision Network for the State of Oregon. I have participated in thousands of searches. I have experience with writing search warrants and have years of hands on in-field experience that I am passionate about sharing with others so they can be successful in their career.
