9:15 AM - 10:45 AM
Session Type: Workshop

Adult Community Corrections has long struggled with how to adequately address the needs of those transitioning from youth to adult. Traditionally, we have focused on treating 18-24 year old in the same way we would any adult offender. With greater accessibility to research and ever expanding knowledge on brain development it is apparent that treating the 18-24 year old population the same is not only not effective but is detrimental to public safety. This workshop will focus on Oregon’s work to redefine what effective supervision of 18-24 year old looks like, how to achieve it, and practical steps an agency can take to implement these strategies.
