How Technology Can be Leveraged to Support Behavioral Change in Reintegrating Offenders Back into Communities

This presentation will provide an overview of innovative smart phone technology available to supervise offenders, assist officers in addressing the challenges of high recidivism rates and overwhelming caseloads. Participants will overview policies and cost analysis applicable to offender monitoring and data management. We will provide our process for establishing continued behavioral change as a ongoing aspect of supervision; we will share a platform that is able to deliver offenders with pro-social connections through daily personalized contacts, access to a Support Core, calendar tools to reduce failure to appear occurrences, geo-fences, and video conferences all developed based on evidence based theoretical frameworks. The presenters will offer participants an interactive focused small table discussions aimed at bridging technology from thought into practice. Small groups will share 1-2 concerns identified. The presenters will conclude the presentation by sharing several case studies. We will address common concerns often raised during implementation and use of smartphone technology. Finally, time will be left for a question and answer session.

Ben Williams is the Vice President – Business Development of TRACKtech, LLC. Prior to joining TRACKtech, LLC, Mr. Williams served as a U.S. Army officer assigned to Fifth Special Forces where he worked in an operational an advisory capacity to support various internal defense and infrastructure development efforts. He has worked extensively with numerous host nation client partners throughout the Middle East to build capability and capacity in local and regional governmental agencies. Ben holds an MBA from Arizona State University and an MA from Princeton University.
