This Workshop is designed to engage the participants in assessing their organizations EBP current progress in 6 key areas. Using the APPA EBP checklist the participants will learn how to use the tool when they return home. The Presenters are all APPA Past Presidents and Consult Nationally and Internationally on EBP and developing an individual vision and path.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Susan Burke
Executive Director, The Carey Group


Susan Burke: A Past President of APPA. She is the first Executive Director for The Carey Group, a national consulting firm of justice system practitioners helping other practitioners fulfill their mission of safer communities. She was the 2020 recipient of the APPA Walter Dunbar Memorial Award. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Probation Executives and the Steering Committee of the Youth Correctional Leaders for Justice.


Scott M Taylor
Founding Partner, Justus Consultants


Scott Taylor is a founding partner of Justus Consulting Consortium. He had 47 years in state and local corrections. Retired from Multnomah County DCJ in 2018. He is a Past President of APPA. Past Treasurer of APPA. Walter Dunbar award recipient. Consultant with NIC , NCSC.


Ray Wahl
Founder, Justus Consultants


Ray Wahl: Ray has worked in the field of community corrections for 45 years. He has served as the Director of Utah Adult Probation and Parole and the Utah Juvenile Court Administrator, who oversees the operation of juvenile probation. He has delivered consulting services in several states and internationally. He served as the President of the American Probation and Parole Association from 1999 to 2001, and received their Walter Dunbar Award in 2008. He also received the National Association of Probation Executives Executive of the Year in 2011.


Kathy Waters

Kathy Waters, Ms. Waters has over 36 years of criminal justice experience. She is an APPA Past President. Ms. Waters has served as the Division Director of the Adult Probation Services Division for the Administrative Office of the Courts, Arizona Supreme Court since January 2001. Ms. Waters has lead the initiative of Evidence Based Practices in Probation and Pretrial in the state as outlined in the Supreme Court’s Strategic Agendas with outstanding and promising results.
