Leading Organizational and Technology Change for Adaptable Supervision Systems

SESSION INFO

Monday, August 28, 2023
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Session Type: Workshop

In this workshop we will explore the Rhode Island Department of Corrections Probation and Parole’s (RIDOC) journey to success in turning around what was the second-highest rate of individuals on probation in the nation. Specifically, we will dive into how they managed their process of organizational and technology changes to adapt to modern challenges. First, limited resources, soaring caseloads per officer, and outdated technology; then the pandemic and remote work; and now changing legislation and other realities of our dynamic justice landscape. We will examine the challenges agency staff faced and how RIDOC set forth an organizational and technological transformation. Leaders will share how they employed effective change management practices to successfully navigate change to improve probation management, reduce caseloads, and ultimately build a strong and adaptable corrections system with the continued ability to respond to change, the only constant in the world of corrections. Attendees will leave with practical tools and actionable strategies for driving and managing organizational and technology change to improve supervision systems.
