Transforming U: An Innovative Approach to Improving Workplace Wellness

Learn how the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice made employee wellness a priority. This workshop will discuss creating a workplace culture that values employee health and wellness. To include small changes like implementing lunch and learns on health and wellness topics and walking meetings to larger changes like policies that encourage and support employees through providing wellness hours.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Andrea Butler
Community Outreach Coordinator, GA Department of Community Supervision


Andrea Butler received her bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Georgia Southern University. Andrea has been with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice for seven years. During this time, she has taken on several roles including Juvenile Correctional Officer, Security Emergency Team member (SERT), Security Management Team member (SMRT), and now a Community Outreach Coordinator with the Office of Victim and Volunteer Services.


Kareem Jamaal Pollard
Regional Volunteer Coordinator, GA Department of Juvenile Justice Office of Training


Kareem Jamaal Pollard received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (2007) from Savannah State University. Kareem is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and Achievers of Today and Tomorrow, which are both organizations that help strive to uplift the community as well as the institution. Kareem is a Regional Volunteer Coordinator with the Department of Juvenile Justice and has been with the agency for seven years.


Christine Richardson
Program Coordinator, GA Department of Juvenile Justice Office of Training


Christine Richardson received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University. Christine has been with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice for seven years. Christine began as an animal programs coordinator and her role quickly expanded to include providing the youths with service-learning projects and interactive educational opportunities. Most recently, Christine has also been working on the Transforming U initiative to increase overall wellness among DJJ staff.
