This interactive and engaging workshop will provide the attendees with the ability to strengthen their communication skills. The intent of the course is to enhance the communication skills of attendees at all levels. This is an interactive program based on experiential learning techniques. This course focuses on persuasive communication skills outside the department through community communication; communication skills within the department; and personal communication skills to further develop leadership. When a supervisor or command officer has strong communication skills, personal growth of the officer, the reputation of the department and the profession is enhanced.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Tracy Miller

Tracy Miller is also a prosecutor with over 25 years of legal experience, and she is currently the highest-ranking woman in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Tracy also created and leads the Orange County Gang Prevention Partnership (OC GRIP), the largest gang prevention program in the United States. Tracy has prosecuted hundreds of cases and throughout her career and she prosecuted the first gang injunction case in Orange County and currently supervises over 150 attorneys. She has completed over 80 jury trials. Tracy is a POST certified Instructor and has provided legal trainings to thousands of law enforcement officers in the last two decades. Tracy began her career as a law clerk for prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden on one of the most visible cases in our nation’s history…the OJ Simpson case. Tracy is a law enforcement interview coach hundreds of officers have turned to Tracy for training help them attain their next promotions, write more inspiring and results-generating speeches, and to hone their public speaking and presentation skills. Tracy received her Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law and is on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Bar Association.
