The workshop “How Leadership Training can help Female officers working in probation?” The workshop will be for women who work in probation in upper management. This workshop will show a need for bringing in the proper leadership development programs. ​The workshop proposes to examine barriers that women administrators working in probation face. The purpose of this workshop is to identify specific barriers which women administrators working within probation face; in order to properly address and overcome such barriers and stress management.

Melody Smith
Probation Officer, Cook County Adult Probation Department


Melody Smith, MA is an Supervisor with the Cook County Adult Probation Department who believes that women in leadership should strive for greatness. Melody has worked in correction since 2003 at the Cook County Sheriffs department as a teacher and counselor. She has her Master’s degree in counseling from Roosevelt University Chicago. She started as a officer in 2015 in the Cook County Adult Probation department in Home Confinement and recently became a supervisor in 2022. Her vast knowledge in the Jail and Probation has allowed her to speak highly of Leadership in corrections.
