Substance Abuse Programming In A Virtual Environment

ODRC is piloting the use of virtual reality programming to address substance abuse related skills deficits within the correctional population, specifically those within harder to reach areas in the community and institutions. These are intended to give viewers more information and skills practice to support substance abuse recovery goals in high risk scenarios. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to experience the virtual reality programming.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Dionne Addison
Program Administrator, OH Department of Rehabilitation and Correction


Dionne Addison has over 28 years of experience in corrections. Currently, she is a Program Administrator for the APA Quality Assurance section. This section is responsible for continuous quality improvement efforts in evidence-based practices and serves as grant administrator for various BJA grants. Dionne is a certified trainer in many curriculum, including Decision Points, Core Correctional Practices, ORAS, etc.


Stephanie Starr
Program Administrator, OH Department of Rehabilitation and Correction


Stephanie is a certified trainer and master trainer in many curriculum to include, Decision Points, Core Correctional Practices, Anger Control, ORAS, etc.


Shayne Willis
Parole Officer, OH Department of Rehabilitation and Correction


Shayne Willis began working through the ODRC in 2015 as a Franklin County Parole Officer. In 2019, Shayne transitioned to his current role as a Grant Analyst, governing the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (COAP) Grant which is studying the implementation of virtual reality lead substance abuse treatment for inmates and supervisees. Shayne is a certified trainer in multiple EBP curriculums and is a graduate of Otterbein University.
