The intensive session will introduce participants to the fundamental aspects of occupational fraud to include: why people commit fraud; how fraud occurs (most common schemes); best practices in prevention and detections; and, specific case studies in which community supervision staff have committed fraudulent acts.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Joe Agins
Ethics, Fraud, and Compliance Specialist, TX Board of Pardons and Paroles


Mr. Agins is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Regent Emeritus of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University where he teaches course work in white collar crime. Mr. Agins has approximately 30 years’ experience in the fields of Fraud, Ethics, and Compliance.


Mr. Chris Cirrito
Chief Audit Executive, TX Department of Criminal Justice


Chris Cirrito is Chief Audit Executive for the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, and the Windham School District. He is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Government Auditing Professional. Mr. Cirrito has 27 years correctional experience.
