Dennis Maloney
Community Service Project

APPA’s Dennis Maloney Community Service Project gives our members a chance to give back to the community during each training institute. The 2020 Winter Training Institute’s local host committee has recommended Geaux 4 Kids, Inc., as the recipient of our support.

Geaux for Kids, Inc. logoGeaux 4 Kids is a north Louisiana-based not-for-profit. Their mission is to ease the emergency transition of displaced children into the protective custody of foster care. APPA is seeking donations for “Geaux Bags” to enable foster parents to more easily focus on the emotional needs of the child transitioning into foster care. We are seeking donations of clothing, toiletries, comfort items, and bedding. The goal of Geaux Bags is to improve the circumstances by which kids enter foster care, and to make that first night a little bit easier. Children of all ages and sizes enter foster care, and at all hours. They are usually removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse, and quite often have only the clothes on their backs.

Attendees of the Winter Training Institute in New Orleans are asked to join the APPA Board of Directors, staff and Louisiana Host Committee members in giving back! Please add an item or two to your bag when packing for New Orleans. You can drop off your donations for this wonderful organization at the local host table after you check in at registration.
