Tour of the Los Angeles County Probation Department’s Campus Vernon Kilpatrick

Monday, February 27, 2023, from 12:30pm-3:30pm

Please join us as the APPA will be offering a tour of the Los Angeles County Probation Department’s Campus Vernon Kilpatrick. In the hills above Malibu, a juvenile probation camp has been reimagined as a cutting-edge campus for residential treatment. Launched at Campus Kilpatrick in 2017, the LA Model is a new approach to juvenile justice, which focuses on positive youth development through relationships and skill building in a small group therapeutic environment. Campus Kilpatrick is the Department’s flagship facility, a state-of-the-art campus built with a focus on wellness, trauma responsive strategies, and an evidence-based cognitive behavior program. The tour will travel the scenic route on the Pacific Coast Highway and up the Malibu hills through the vista points, culminating with a tour inside the facility which will include the campus’ cottages, school, gymnasium, common area, dining hall, culinary arts kitchen, and more. Please reserve your seat on the bus tour during registration as space will be limited. The tour will take place on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Please meet us at the registration table at 12:15pm to prepare for boarding. This link is a video production of Campus Vernon Kilpatrick’s LA Model.
