National Reentry Resource Center
Contracting Agency: CSG Justice Center/Bureau of Justice Assistance

Since its inception in 2009, APPA has worked with the Justice Center as a key partner on the National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC). Such work has included the several tasks and deliverables: oversight of the Prerelease Planning and Post-Release Supervision Subcommittee; dissemination of training and educational materials via web-based methods, such as a FAQ on reentry policy and several webinars on effective case planning and supervision practices; and enhancement of partnerships between community corrections agencies and non-justice, Second Chance Act grantees at the community level. Moving forward, APPA will address more specific areas of reentry that are of interest to the community corrections field, such as incentives to promote compliance among individuals under community supervision and the use of electronic technology in community supervision. APPA will conduct webinars and conference presentations to highlight the research, policy, and practices associated with these topics.

Current NRRC work which APPA is helping to support includes (but is not necessarily limited to) the development and administration of an online survey to gather information about reentry practices and policies in rural jurisdictions, delivery of a webinar on vicarious trauma for probation and parole officers, finalizing results of a workload study conducted on the Montana Department of Corrections, development of an online self-paced course on the Justice Center's publication "A Ten-Step Guide to Transforming Probation Departments to Reduce Recidivism", asssisting in the revision of the State Recidivism Reduction checklists, and provide assistance or access to SMEs to deliver technincal assistsance to Smart Probation grantees.
