Distance Learning for Rural Probation and Parole Agencies and Practitioners
Contracting Agency: Bureau of Justice Assistance

The goal of this project was to increase the availability of training on issues and recommended strategies for effective offender supervision to probation and parole practitioners, especially those working in rural areas. Recognizing that officers in rural agencies often do not have access to traditional classroom training events, distance-learning methodologies were be used to produce four audio teleconferences/webcasts. The live programs were recorded as they were broadcast and the recorded versions, along with all supplemental materials for each program, are posted on APPA's website where they will remain available indefinitely.
