New York, NY, United States

WHO:Community corrections and criminal justice leaders

The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) will hold its 42nd Annual Training Institute at the Marriott Marquis-Times Square, August 27-30 with over 100 engaging sessions. Attendees will participate in APPA’s interactive learning experience, the Community Corrections Chase (C3), a take on the very popular CBS show now in its 30th season, Amazing Race. In this competition, community corrections/supervision professionals will team up to “Chase” an opportunity to gain knowledge about practices, theories, and policy information that increase understanding of this industry. Teams move on foot and mass transit; some for the first time at their own pace, trying to solve as many of the clues as possible. Each site will offer a different educational and fact to find expedition, and onsite will be the New York Road Runners (NYRR) Club Ambassadors. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams, and all will get a certificate of completion.

Community Corrections Chase educational stops include:

  • New York City Department of Probation Headquarters
  • Vera Institute of Justice
  • Center for Court Innovation
  • NYC Police Department – 1 Police Plaza, NYC
  • Council of State Governments – 22 Cortlandt Street, NYC
